How to combine multiple Excel files into one, and split the tabs
If every month, quarter or teammate sends you their own spreadsheet, Excel Power Mapper stacks all the rows into a single master sheet. It also does the opposite: it turns every tab of a workbook into a separate file.
Combine several Excel files into a master sheet
- In the Standard Tools tab, choose Excel Power Mapper. The direction should read Multiple Excels → Master Database.
- Drag in your
.xlsxor.xlsfiles. Reorder them with the arrows if the order of the rows matters: the first file in the list goes on top. - Press Consolidate.
CONSOLIDATED.xlsxdownloads, with a sheet called Master holding every row, one below the other.
How the columns are matched
The tool reads the first sheet of each file and uses its first row as headers. Columns with the same name are merged into the same column of the result, even if they're in a different order in each file. If one file has a column the others don't, it's added at the end and left empty for the other rows.
| File | Headers |
|---|---|
| Sales_Q1.xlsx | Date · Customer · Amount |
| Sales_Q2.xlsx | Customer · Date · Amount · Sales rep |
| Result | Date · Customer · Amount · Sales rep (empty for the Q1 rows) |
Split each tab into its own file
- In Excel Power Mapper, press ⇄ to switch to Tabbed Excel → Multiple Excels.
- Pick a single workbook.
- Press Split Tabs.

It's handy for sending each department only its part of a report, or for uploading single sheets to an app that doesn't accept multi-tab workbooks.
What's kept and what isn't
- Kept: cell values — text, numbers and dates.
- Not kept: colours, conditional formatting, charts and macros. Formulas are saved as their calculated value. Splitting tabs keeps more of each sheet, but advanced features may be lost.
- Combining only uses the first sheet of each file. If your data is on another tab, move it to the first position first.
Privacy for your spreadsheets
Spreadsheets often hold customer data, payroll or sales figures. With Zero7Files they're read by the SheetJS library inside your browser, and the result is created on your computer too: nothing is uploaded or stored anywhere.
