Convert an EML email to PDF
Sometimes you need to keep an email as a document: proof of a booking, an enrolment confirmation or a work message you have to attach to a file. This tool turns the email's .eml file into a clean PDF that's easy to archive.
What an EML file is and how to get one
EML is the standard format for saving a complete email: headers (who sent it, to whom, when) and content. Most email programs can export it:
- Gmail (web): open the email, click the three dots ⋮ → Download message.
- Outlook (desktop): drag the email into a folder on your computer, or use File → Save As.
- Thunderbird and Apple Mail: File → Save As, or drag the message to the desktop.
Step by step
- In the Pro Arsenal tab, choose EML ➔ PDF.
- Drag or pick the
.emlfile. - Press Convert. A PDF with the same name as the email downloads.
What the PDF contains
- The subject as the title.
- The From, To and Date lines as they appear in the email (labelled in Spanish: De, Para, Fecha).
- The body as text, keeping its line breaks, on A4 pages added as needed.
Limitations worth knowing
- Attachments aren't included. If you need an email's PDF attachment, download it separately from your email program and, if you like, merge them afterwards with merge PDF.
- It works best with plain-text emails. Many marketing emails are sent as HTML or base64-encoded: in that case the PDF may show some code instead of the formatted text.
- Roughly the first 6,000 characters of the body are included — enough for most personal and work emails.
- Emojis and some non-Latin scripts can't be drawn with the PDF's standard font.
Alternative for heavily formatted emails: open the email in your program and use Print → Save as PDF. It keeps the layout, though the file is usually larger.
Privacy
Emails contain addresses, names and sometimes sensitive data. With Zero7Files the file is read and the PDF is generated in your browser with the pdf-lib library: the email is never uploaded to a server.
