Export a SQLite database to Excel

SQLite is the most widely used database in the world: it lives inside phone apps, browsers and lots of programs, and it's the one used in many database courses. With this tool you can see its contents in Excel without installing anything.

Open SQLite ➔ Excel

Step by step

  1. In Pro Arsenal, choose SQLite ➔ Excel.
  2. Pick the database file (.db, .sqlite or .sqlite3).
  3. Press Convert. The first time you'll see "Loading SQL engine…" for a few seconds.
  4. Database_Export.xlsx downloads, with one sheet per table.

What gets exported

Views, indexes and relationships between tables aren't exported — only data. If you need a specific query (a JOIN, for example), first create a table with its result from your SQLite manager.

What it's useful for

Limits

Excel supports at most 1,048,576 rows per sheet. With very large databases (hundreds of megabytes) the browser may be slow or run out of memory, since the whole database is loaded on your device. Binary data (images stored in the database) won't display usefully in Excel.

Privacy

It uses sql.js, a version of SQLite compiled for the browser. The only thing downloaded from the internet is the engine (public code). Your database is opened in your computer's memory and never leaves it.
